EARTH+AIR

Photography

The main focus of our expeditions will be aerial photography and photographing local species like argali, Siberian ibex, snow leopard, wolves, golden eagles, vultures and wolverine. The Altai is one of the best places on earth for photographing argali and ibex and our trackers/rangers usually find good numbers of them. We will also set specially designed DSLR camera traps within the special protected areas to capture snow leopard and other local species.

FOCUS ON PHOTOGRAPHY

Each day we will review and critique the days shooting and have a briefing on the next day’s activities. All photographers will be given extensive opportunities to do aerial photography above and beyond special protected areas and we will regularly enter the protected areas on horseback or on foot to photograph wildlife, deploying and retrieving camera traps enroute. We recommend all photographers bring basic gear including their cameras of choice and a good range of wide and telephoto lenses, tripod and ball and/or fluid heads. We will provide all camera trap equipment and with the option of renting telephoto lenses if required.

Light, timing and photo opportunities are more important than “seeing everything”. Specialized aerial expeditions for photographers focusing on conservation issues, landscapes and wildlife.

GREAT LIGHT CONDITIONS

The Altai mountains are part of a vast ancient landscape that delivers a constant range and variety of spectacular light conditions throughout the seasons. The summer months provide us with available light conditions to fly and photograph from early dawn to late evening, often up to 10pm.
